Dear Friend of the Dimon Institute,

This is a reminder that Ted Dimon’s upcoming seminar on F.M. Alexander’s “The Evolution of a Technique” begins in two weeks, on Monday, September 8.

There is no single written work that has had greater influence on the subject of kinesthetic education than the personal account that appears in Alexander’s third book, The Use of the Self. “The Evolution of a Technique” is a story of incredible persistence and insight, documenting Alexander’s own discoveries and reasoning as he not only solved his vocal problem, but discovered a whole field of study.

This fall, Ted will discuss the entire story of “The Evolution of a Technique,” outlining the stages of learning Alexander went through before he was able to solve his vocal problem, and identifying the many insights he had along the way. Each lecture will focus on a particular section of the account. Topics will include: Alexander’s concept of mind/body unity; his discovery of the “primary control”; the problem of coordination and habitual manner of use; and more.

These talks are open to all, and will take place live online on Zoom.

We look forward to seeing you in September.
